Jeremy Clarkson has opened up about his secret health scare which lead to the star losing one stone in weight.
The former Top Gear star, 63, enjoyed a luxury wellness retreat with his girlfriend Lisa Hogan back in October when he discovered some concerning symptoms. The presenter struggled to relax and ultimately cut the trip short to undergo an operation to have a 5cm cyst removed from his back.
In a new interview with The Sun, the broadcaster revealed how his health worries riddled his mind throughout the trip, leaving him more on edge than ever. He told the publication: “Lisa took me to a health farm and, well, it was so miserable there that I thought, ‘I’ve got to have this cyst taken out at some point, I may as well go now.

“So I checked out the whole place and checked into the hospital, because it was more fun having an operation than eating juniper berries all day long.” The dad-of-two reassured fans that the cyst wasn’t cancerous but was dramatically impacting his life.
He went on: “I did actually lose a stone though – mind you, half of that was probably the cyst. But it wasn’t cancer. It was never going to be cancerous though – I wasn’t in the mood.”
It comes after the car fanatic mocked the strict health advice put upon the public after revealing he at “double risk” of getting dementia later in life. In his latest Sunday Times column, he hit out at the new medical advice despite having learnt that a man of his age is advised to walk 10,000 steps a day.
Admitting he would struggle to find the time to complete the daily requirement, he joked: “When I go with my son to Stamford Bridge, he pootles along at what people call ‘walking pace’ and to keep up I have to unleash my inner Bannister.
“Which means that for the first half of the match I can’t concentrate on the football because I’m too busy coughing up my spleen and trying to get my breath back!” He added: “This is what the world’s torso enthusiasts need to remember.
“They tell us what we should be doing to keep fit, and even if we have the inclination to pay attention, we never have the time nor the will to do anything about it.” Jeremy then took aim at the diet industry for deciding food is healthy one dan and ‘dangerous’ the next.
He explained that he doesn’t think anyone reads the small print on food labelling nor understands what it means. Meanwhile, when it comes to alcohol consumption, Jeremy confessed he in unable to monitor his use because he’s baffled by what a ‘unit’ is.
