Blue Bloods star Tom Selleck thinks sex gets more “satisfying” the older you get – though after 37 years of marriage to his wife Jillie Mack, it doesn’t happen quite as often.
Opening up about his sex life to GQ back in 2014, Selleck explained: “It’s fair to say you don’t have sex as often as you did when you were 30. That’s a good generalisation. There’s no book—well, I guess there’s books on it, but I don’t want to read ’em!—about what happens as you get older, when all that stuff…”
He went on: “It just grows more, kind of, satisfying… I think some of that comes with age, some of that comes with the good part of the familiarity.

“I don’t think the infatuation stage of any relationship lasts forever, but it can grow into something.” The Friends actor added to Us Weekly of his marriage: “I think love has gotten deeper. [It’s] simpler. There’s just not a lot of bullsh**. We know we love each other.”

The star has been married twice – first to his Magnum PI co-star Jacqueline Ray from 1971 until 1982. He married Jillie in 1987 and welcomed daughter Hannah together a year later. He’s also the adoptive father to Ray’s son Kevin Shepard, star of US rock band Tonic.
Tom met his second wife while she was starring in the West End production of Cats, while Selleck was in London filming Lassiter. Each afternoon he’d go to see the musical, with his co-star Jane Seymour admitting: “He kept telling me how great Cats was. I thought it was good, but I couldn’t see going back a dozen times.”
By the time it was time for them to tie the knot, the couple had decided on a secret wedding ceremony with close family, arranged under false names to throw off media attention. Tom went by Tom Jenkins, while Jillie went under the name Suzie Mark.

The chapel pastor said of the big day: “They were both nervous, like any other couple about to get married. He was very concerned that the service be heartfelt, very concerned for her that the service be meaningful. He is a very warm, caring man.”
But in the early days of his career, Tom was dogged by rumours he was gay, which he staunchly denied. In 1997 he portrayed a gay man on-screen in the movie In & Out to dispel allegations that he was homophobic, explaining at the time: “Because I had sued several tabloids for falsely saying I was a gay, people were saying I was anti-gay. Playing the role ended both those rumours.”

He added in 1997: “Look, it’s not anti-gay to say you’re not gay. When The Globe printed the gay story, I had made a commitment to my wife, who’d given birth to my daughter. I have a 29-year-old (step)son. This tabloid was implying that I was leading a double life. It was hurtful to other people, which is where I draw the line.”
The star told TV Guide in 2015: “I don’t know where it comes from. I guess some folks who are gay want me to be gay. That’s fine with me. You haven’t made it until people want to make up things about you.”
