The Chase star forced to apologise as Bradley Walsh halts show over ITV snub

The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh stopped the show to send a message to one of the player’s parents after she snubbed ITV.

The Gladiators host, 63, welcomed four new players into the studio who went head-to-head with Monday’s (January 29) chaser Anne Hegarty. Second to take on The Governess was Corinne.

Speaking to Bradley before her cash builder round, the 66-year-old explained she is retired but one of her main jobs is looking after her mother, who is 95. The former Coronation Street star questioned whether Corinne’s mum watches the show, but she was forced to shut him down.

“No,” she simply declared. Corinne laughed: “She’s old school. she never watches ITV. As a kid I wasn’t allowed to. But she did say she’d watch me if I came on.”

Corinne revealed her mum refuses to watch ITV

She quipped: “I do apologise to her.” After learning Corinne’s mum’s name is Audrey, he took a moment to pause the show while he sent her a message.

Looking directly into the camera, Bradley said: “Audrey, come on. You’ve got to watch a bit of commercial telly. You need something to break the programme’s up.”

The team got off to a rough start when Morgan opted for the high offer of £30,000. Despite answering the first few questions correctly, Anne proved she was on top form and managed to catch him before he could make it back.

Things began to look up when Corinne stepped up, earning £5,000 in the first round. She managed to outrun the chaser and finally put some money in the team’s bank.

Corinne and Hannah were caught in the final chase

Following Corinne was 36-year-old Hannah. The career coach shared hopes of taking her two-year-old daughter to Disneyland Paris if she won some money. Wanting to make it back, Hannah chose the low offer of £1,000 and landed a place in the final chase.

The last player to take on Anne was Zahir. The 51-year-old could’ve taken the team’s total up to £11,000, however was caught at the final hurdle.

Corinne and Hannah scored 12 in the final chase. Despite a few push backs, it wasn’t enough to beat The Governess who caught them with plenty of time to spare.
