BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent forced to correct Morning Live star as things turn awkward

Things became fairly awkward during the latest instalment of BBC Breakfast as Sally Nugent was forced to correct Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones.

Sally and her co-star Jon Kay were back on the famous red sofa on Tuesday (January 30) to deliver the latest news headlines. But when it was time to speak to Gethin and Helen Skelton via video link to find out what they had coming up on their show, Gethin appeared to be confused with Sally’s choice of words.

Sally said: “Now, it’s 25 past 8, Morning Live follows us on BBC One this morning. Let’s find out what they have in store today and it’s Helen and Gethin, morning!”

Appearing from the Morning Live studio, Gethin sarcastically replied: “25 past 8 Sal, shall we do it now, shall we do the show now? We’ll do it half 9! We’ll tell you what’s coming up now and do the show at half 9.”

Sally Nugent was quick to correct Gethin Jones

Seeing this take a slightly different turn, Helen tried to correct Gethin’s error too by stating that Sally mentioned the correct time. But after sharing what was coming up on their show, Gethin said: “See you at 9:30 Sal, not 25 past 8!”

Sally quickly replied: “No, I said it’s 25 past 8 now. I’m not sure you were listening?”

Replying to her comment, Gethin joked: “I knew it would always be my fault in the end.” But Sally laughed the moment off and said she was deflecting.

The rather uncomfortable moment isn’t the first time for Gethin Jones and the BBC Breakfast presenters. Last month, the hosts joked about watching Morning Live because TV food chef Nigella Lawson was on.

Sally made sure she corrected her BBC colleague

Bouncy Gethin was in a Christmas mood at the time as they discussed different cakes. But as he started randomly singing Christmas inspired tunes, his co-star Helen warned him to stop.

Gethin then replied: “I’ll let Noddy do the singing.” Replying to Gethin in the BBC Breakfast studio, Jon then swiped: “You’re meant to be encouraging us to watch Gethin,” as Gethin quickly hit back: “It’s a great show coming up at 9.15 Jon.”
