Emmerdale newcomer Beth Cordingly has revealed that she currently is in a secret relationship with a former legend from the soap.
Cordingly, 47, recently joined the cast of the ITV soap taking on the role of Ruby Fox-Milligan. Being compared to the likes of Kim Tate, played by Clare King, Ruby has already stirred the pot by being a go-getter, and is not afraid to step on people’s toes.
But for Beth, who has previously starred in The Bill as PC Kerry Young, she has an extra connection to the soap than once thought. She is now revealed to be dating Ian Kelsey, who was a staple of the cast during the 1990s.

Taking on the role of Dave Glover in the series, Ian was a member of the cast from 1993 to 1997, getting involved with resident ‘bad girl’ Kim Tate. However, things came to an end for the loveable Dave when he died trying to save Kim’s son Jamie from a fire.
Beth has been Ian’s partner since they first got together back in 2021. The duo had already known each other for more than 20 years before randomly bumping into each other and sparks began to fly.
Cordingly said that she was “very happy” in her relationship with Ian, and added that he remains very fond of the crew at the soap. She joked that he still knows everyone there, over 25 years since he was last on the set of the soap.
Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I am very in love with Ian and very happy. I think it really does work with him being an actor too – he has been so fantastic!”
She explained that having two actors in a relationship, both can understand the stresses of working late and being taken away from home. Beth gushed over her partner and said that “he totally gets it”, and would not get in her way to career success.
“He knows a lot of the crew and cast and so it’s lovely to be able to share what I’ve been up to, knowing he understands,” she continued. “That’s important when you are away and he is always keen to find out how filming has gone each day.”
Beth has previously tied the knot once before, having been married to stage producer Adam Speers. Ian himself has also been hitched, welcoming two children into the world with former wife Mia Terry.
Ahead of her joining the Emmerdale cast, she beamed: “I’m delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale, it’s an enormous privilege and Ruby is a dream role. She’s a firecracker and a trouble-maker and I think people will love her or hate her – I can’t wait to get stuck in with this fabulous cast!”
Emmerdale airs every weekday at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
