EastEnders return ‘sealed’ as Denise ‘goes insane’ after dark Lucas twist

EastEnders fans have tipped a return for Libby Fox as Denise continues to lose her grip on reality.

Denise (Diane Parish) has been struggling since the events of Christmas Day. While The Six buried Keanu’s (Danny Walters) body in the cafe, Denise argued with Linda (Kellie Bright) and ended up falling on his deceased body.

Since then, she has been haunted by recurring nightmares of Keanu. Needing answers on how to live with the guilt, Denise paid a visit to ex-husband and serial killer Lucas Johnson (Don Gilet).

Lucas was confused by Denise’s behaviour, reminding her that anything she’s done can’t be as bad as the crimes he committed. Asked how he copes with what he did, Lucas revealed that confessing set him free.

Denise went to visit Lucas in prison

Back at The Vic, Denise wandered in and immediately sparked concern from Suki (Balvinder Sopal), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) with her dishevelled look. The trio were then stunned as Denise then volunteered to go on stage with a psychic.

Despite hoping to get some answers to her despair, Denise realised the psychic couldn’t help her. Returning home, a confused Chelsea told Denise that she stood her up, before the latter confessed to visiting Lucas in prison.

Denise insisted she could get back to herself and headed upstairs to put Raymond to bed. But it became clear her grip on reality was slipping even further as the ghost of Keanu appeared outside her bedroom window.

Viewers think there is only one person who can help Denise, and that’s her other daughter Libby. Speculating about a possible return for the character, one wrote: “I hope Libby finally comes back this year and she and Chelsea move in with Denise.”

A second added: “Libby needs to come back. She’s Denise’s only hope.” Another theorised: “This would be a good set up for a Libby return and Yolande and Patrick and Denzil could try and help Denise.”

“We need Libby back,” demanded a fourth viewer as another declared: “So Denise is going actual insane.” Libby, played by Belinda Owusu, was last seen in 2017 after leaving Walford once again to return to her life in Oxford.
