BBC The Traitors star Andrew shares truth of gruelling schedule and 21-hour long final

The Traitors star Andrew Jenkins shared the truth behind the gruelling film schedule contestants took part in and the “draining” 21-hour day final.

The Welshman made it to the final five in the nail-biting BBC One whodunnit alongside Evie Morrison, Jaz Singh, Mollie Pearce and Harry Clark. Viewers were glued to their screens as they watched the army veteran be recruited as a Traitor half-way through the series by Paul Gorton and Harry.

Despite making it all the way to the final, the 45-year-old TV star failed to swipe the eye-watering cash prize with his teammate. Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Star and other press, the hunk has given viewers an insight into the grizzly schedule the contestants keep on the show.

“Before we started playing the game, we spent a bit of time together to get to know each other for a few days before the actual game started.” When asked how his days changed when he became a Traitor, he revealed BBC bosses added an addition two hours of filming to his daily schedule.

He confessed: “I did struggle with being a Traitor. I suppose a lot of it was down to the fact that it is a draining game, it is mentally and physically draining.

“So towards the end, I didn’t become a Traitor until like two weeks into it, I was quite tired anyway. Obviously, you’ve got to stay up a bit later in the evenings as well because you’ve got to stay in the turret and talk about who you’re murdering.

“So you’ve got an extra two hours out of the room, and I didn’t get much sleep either.” When discussing the epic final, Andrew revealed that the finalists were forced to film for 21 hours due to unforeseen weather delays.

The TV star explained: “It was a long, long day. We did a huge mission in the afternoon, and we were all physically drained and tired.

“We we’re up at seven in the morning and then the final was until four o’clock in the morning because it was delayed because the weather was so bad.” But that wasn’t the only surprise for him during the show, when he admitted that he “didn’t know” how the show ended until the finale hit the airwaves.

“It was really emotional because I didn’t know the ending. I didn’t know how it ended, well, I didn’t know it was as close. I was banished and gone; I didn’t speak to anyone. Literally, gone.”
