Kate Garraway is reportedly returning to Good Morning Britain (GMB) next week – just days after her husband Derek Draper’s funeral.
The 56-year-old ITV presenter said her final farewell to her beloved Derek at his funeral on Friday (February 2). The mum-of-two was surrounded by her loved ones at the emotional ceremony, including colleagues Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard.
But it’s said she’s going to work while grieving for Derek, who died in January. Reports suggest she’s going to give a live interview to GMB on Sunday (February 3) and return to work on Thursday next week, where she’ll host the ITV daytime show with Ben as normal.

A source told The Sun: “Kate has had an incredibly rough past couple of months, and it has taken its toll mentally and physically..
“But she is a workhorse, and journalism, being on live TV, runs through her blood — it’s what she knows and loves. Kate is keen to keep busy and get stuck back into work. It’s the perfect time for her to be reunited with her GMB family.
“Everyone at GMB has been hugely supportive, and are desperate to support and welcome her back into the family. They’re excited to have her back after so long away.
“After caring for Derek, and her family, for almost four years, Kate needs to get back to some sort of normality. And she wants to throw herself back into work, 3.45am starts and all.”
The source added that Kate needs to work to provide for her and Derek’s kids – daughter Darcey and son Billy – and that being a full-time carer for Derek was tough financially.” Kate’s last appearance on Good Morning Britain was on December 8.

Derek suffered a heart attack in December, meaning Kate needed to be by her husband’s side in hospital. The former political lobbyist spent 13 months in hospital after contracting Covid and was placed in a coma at the start of the pandemic – he returned home in 2021 but had been in and out of hospital since and never fully receovered from the disease.
