Meryl Streep’s ‘nude’ scene in Don’t Look Up caused quite a fuss for co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
Fans went wild for Streep’s strip in the Netflix film which left viewers with their jaws on the floor after the Hollywood star, who played President Janie Orlean, went naked in the closing scene. Some fans may not know that Meryl used a body double for the moment, but Leonardo, who played the film’s protagonist Dr Randall Mindy, still had an issue with the idea.
It turns out Leo wasn’t comfortable with seeing what appeared to be Meryl naked. It wasn’t because the pair didn’t get along – it’s actually because he is such a big fan of the three-time Oscar winner.

The film’s director Adam McKay told The Guardian: “You know who had a problem with it? Leo. Leo just views Meryl as film royalty…although maybe royalty is not a compliment… but as such a special figure in the history of film.”

McKay said DiCaprio “didn’t like seeing her with the back tattoo,” and the director explained: “He said something to me like: ‘Do you really need to show that?’ and I was like: ‘It’s President Orlean, it’s not Meryl Streep,’ but she didn’t even blink. She didn’t even bring it up. She is fearless.”

In the film, Meryl represents a Trump-inspired president who essentially ignores Mindy’s pleas to inform the human race about a world-ending comet due to hit Earth at any moment. During Don’t Look Up’s final moments, Janie strips off to reveal a massive tattoo on her lower back.

Many viewers were convinced that Streep actually went nude and swarmed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their disbelief at the scene. Someone wrote: “Meryl Streep was naked at the end of [Don’t Look Up]…[I don’t know] if that was real but I never thought I would see Meryl Streep that naked in my life…”
Another viewer typed: “You get to see Meryl Streep naked…never thought there would be a time that I would get to see Meryl Streep’s tramp stamped naked a** on film and live to tell about it. The movie was actually really awesome.”

Someone else said that they were “in tears” at the sight while another person added: “Never in my life did I expect to see Meryl Streep’s bare naked a**,” someone else said :they had the Meryl Streep butt naked with a tramp stamp and everything” and a final comment added that the scene was “quite a shock at teatime”.
