Rick Astley once claimed he doesn’t have enough sex for someone who is married.
The singer, who turns 58 today (February 6), has been married to film producer Lene Bausager since 2003. He met his wife when he was just 21 years old in 1987, around the same time he released the smash hit single Never Gonna Give You Up.
The Danish star was working as a promoter with Rick’s record label RCA at the time. The dad-of-one has gushed over their romance for the last two decades, admitting he fell in love with her on the day they first crossed paths.

Of their relationship, he previously told the Sydney Morning Herald: “I fell in love with her the day I met her. I did get to see her briefly again a few weeks later in London, then a year after that over a cup of tea while on tour in Denmark.

He added: “We started writing to each other and I’d rack up some big phone bills calling her from all over the world.” After he returned from a tour in Japan in 1989, the couple officially started dating.
In 1992 they welcomed a daughter named Emilie. Just one year later at the age of 27, Rick made the decision to retire from music. After being married for more than two decades, the singer joked that the couple don’t get as intimate as he would like.

Asked how much he has sex, the Together Forever hitmaker told The Sun in 2019: “Wahey! I’d say not enough, like any married couple probably.” Rick credits Lene for saving his career following his musical hiatus.
Returning to the recording studio after a six-year break, Lene “stepped in” as his manager and got him to where he is today. To celebrate his 50th birthday, Rick released an album titled 50 and the record went straight to number one in the UK.

The Angels on my Side hitmaker explained it was because of Leni that he released the album as she gave him the confidence to do so. He previously told the BBC that their love is what keeps him going.
“You can be successful, you can be a big deal, but at the end of the day it’s the ones we love that keep us going,” he said. “I know Lene is not for one second impressed with what I do for a living. It’s the respect we show each other and the moments of love that are what we’re about.”
