During her appearance on This Morning, viewers were left giggling as host Alison Hammond appeared to stumble over Ulrika’s name. The presenter seemed to make the slip-up during a segment on weather girls, which the presentet her chatting to Ulrika about her days on TV-am.
Alison introduced the Gladiators star and was talking about how reading the weather launched her career, and viewers are convinced she said “Eureka” or even “Yulerika”. Several flocked to X to have a giggle about the gaffe, with one teasing: “Another Alison clanger.”
“Yulerika?!” asked another baffled fan. “Eureka?” posted someone else, adding: “Her name is Ulrika, Alison! For crying out loud.” “Never knew her name was Eureka,” quipped another viewer.
Ulrika discussed how she got her big break and how she ended up being a bit “obsessed” with the weather. She explained: “I was about 21 at the time and I had been working as a secretary at the television company. I had done auditions to become a children’s presenter. Didn’t go too well, playing my guitar… say no more.
“And then I did a weather audition which was pretty awful and then they asked me to come back and do another one. I spent three months going to the London Weather Centre just learning about the weather, which I then became slightly obsessed with. It’s such a big thing for the British people. It’s massive, you can’t pass anybody without talking about the weather.
“When I was doing the weather it was talking about what you were wearing. We had a boss who believed in eternal sunshine so we had to wear bright pink, bright yellow, encouraged to go on sunbeds and have shoulder pads and bouffant hair. We would all be sacked today.”
