EastEnders fans are worried that Linda Carter could face a tragic end due to her growing alcohol problem.
They fear she may suffer from liver failure as a result of her constant drinking. She’s turned to booze as she’s struggling with the aftermath of Christmas Day, when she killed Keanu Taylor.
Linda is also dealing with the presumed death of her husband Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer, who disappeared after a confrontation with Janine Butcher at Christmas 2022. Her troubles worsened when her rapist Dean Wicks returned to Walford and Lauren Branning revealed the truth about baby Annie’s father.

Lauren, played by Jacqueline Jossa, has promised not to tell her dad Max Branning about Annie being her half-sister, but this has left Linda feeling anxious. Last week, Ricky Butcher sent Linda a picture of Mick and Janine’s baby son, causing her grief to resurface and leading her to drink heavily.
It didn’t help that Karen Taylor (played by Lorraine Stanley) grilled Linda over the whereabouts of Keanu, her son, adding to her pressure and guilt. And on Thursday (February 9), Linda’s drinking problem reached a new low, with her hiding alcohol in a coffee cup.
Despite telling Elaine she was giving up the drink, Lauren caught her with a bag of hidden wine from Minute Mart. Kathy told Linda to “sober up” after she found her stashing wine in her kitchen, and Linda assured her that she’s ditching the drink, but Kathy wasn’t buying it and told her she needed to get a grip, else she could end up spilling the truth about Keanu’s death.
The pair erupt into a blazing argument that ends in Linda slapping Kathy in the pub. Later on, Linda finds herself disorientated and it’s none other than her son Johnny (Charlie Suff) who helps her up.
Fans are worried that Linda might end up with liver failure because of her uncontrollable drinking. Some have even compared her to former landlady Angie Watts (played by Anita Dobson), who also struggled with alcoholism.
Angie, who was Sharon Watts’ adoptive mum, died off-screen from cirrhosis of the liver, 14 years after she last appeared on the show. Fans are now wondering if history will repeat itself.
One fan wrote on X: “Somebody please! Help Linda! She can’t keep drinking like she is, trust me take it from someone who knows. Liver failure ain’t pretty. #EastEnders”. Another said: “Angie and Linda, cut from the same cloth #EastEnders.”
A third added: “Guarantee if Linda gets liver failure like Angie did” and a fourth wrote: “Linda pls don’t give yourself liver failure I love you x #EastEnders.”
Another fan speculated: “What if Linda gets liver failure like Angie did in 1988. then a potential for a parallel to this …. with Sharon and Kathy by her side in hospital #EastEnders”.
