Love Island has consistently perplexed viewers for years after refusing to show meal times on screen.
Islanders have been seen snacking on ice lollies and making breakfast together, but the mystery behind their main meals still remains.
Islanders have even confirmed that they are kept apart whilst they eat, to limit gossiping and keep conversation to a minimum so that they have enough content to film back when the cameras are rolling.

Former islander Coco Lodge has spilled the tea on the villa’s late night snacking habits.
Although viewers are shown the islanders tucking themselves into bed, when the lights go down it’s a different story.
Coco recently spoke to the sun about their habits: “We eat catering off camera, separated to save the chat, but we love to snack. 3am toasties every night!”
The 27-year-old Casa Amor bombshell admitted that the cast are kept apart at meal times, which has been confirmed by other islanders.
ITV bosses keep the islanders away from each other incase they discuss any gossip that would make for good television.
Meal Times
If you’ve ever wondered who prepared the food for the islanders, then have no fear as head chef Ferenc is here.
He helps prepare the meals for the contestants, as well as the show’s production team, from a makeshift kitchen in a tent which is kept in the villa compound.
Ferenc has previously opened up about his experience on set and explained: “We do lunch and dinner for them, every single day. They always eat the food, but they really like the burger and the ribs as well. We always get feedback from the contestants and production, every single day.”
However, Ferenc’s “meat free Mondays” didn’t go down too well with the islanders who wanted a bit more on their plate.
He added: “Monday, we just do vegetarian and vegan food, so lots of options. Every week, every single week. We started this last year, last year the people weren’t really happy with that, but this year they are.”
Breakfast
Contestants are often seen making pancakes, smoothies and coffees for themselves on screen but Winter Love Island star Callum Jones spilled the beans on what exactly is stocked in the kitchen.
He told OK!: “The only thing we made for ourselves was breakfast and for that there was limited choice. There was always things like eggs, avocado, toast and cereal, your typical breakfast foods.”
He continued on to say that lunch and dinner were catered for and featured fish and meat choices in a buffet style, with “lots of fruit” to finish off.
Series producer Mike Spencer revealed on Reddit that the cast “have a real mix of food,” which can be anything from “lovely fresh salads to roast dinners on a Sunday”.

The former contestant also said that they could ask producers for snacks and said that their larder, fridge and freezer were “topped up with hummus, biscuits, cereal and ice lollies”.
According to Callum, the staff would ask them what they wanted and he always asked for “hummus and pitta bread,” which is his “favourite snack”.
He also revealed that islanders were treated to a takeaway on Saturdays but had to “decide as a group” over what type of cuisine they wanted, which would usually be “pizza or a burger”.
After Anton Danyluk’s time on the show back in 2019, he also revealed that they were frequently gifted with McDonald’s McFlurries, which he told Heat Magazine they “really needed,” along with “a few chicken nuggets here and there”.
