Phillip Schofield’s wife will ‘never divorce him’ because she ‘still loves him’

The real reason why Phillip Schofield’s estranged wife Stephanie Lowe hasn’t filed for divorce has been revealed, according to reports.

More than eight months ago, the TV presenter confessed he’d had an affair with a younger male colleague at ITV, years before he publicly came out as gay in 2020. Their lives were turned upside down when the 61-year-old stepped down from his hosting gig on the daytime show last May.

Despite claiming his “career is over”, a source has told OK! magazine the real reason why his estranged wife hasn’t sought out a legal separation from the former broadcaster. The insider told the publication that despite their romantic connection coming to an end, there’s still a lot of love there.

They told the outlet: “Whatever Phillip has done behind Steph’s back, she still loves him. Even if the love they shared in the beginning of their marriage is different to what it is now, the love is still very much there.

“Steph is, and always will be, Phillip’s support system. She hasn’t divorced him because she doesn’t want to see him fall any further.” Phillip himself confirmed that the couple have no plans to divorce in an emotional interview with BBC during the fallout from the expose.

He told viewers: “I have a wonderful marriage” and thanked Steph for being an “incredibly supportive wife.” The former This Morning host and his doting wife officially separated when the TV star publicly came out as gay.

But Phillip was pictured wearing his wedding ring when he visited his elderly mum Pat, 87, in Cornwall over the summer. There were even reports that the dad-of-two had planned to spend last Christmas with his estranged with and their daughters Molly, 30, and Ruby, 27.

Steph met Phillip in the early days of his career when he presented children’s television and she worked as a BBC TV production assistant. The pair have since celebrated 30 years of marriage and proudly share two children together.

Since the former Dancing on Ice host has stepped away from the limelight, it has been reported that Phillip is feeling “triggered” as he watched Holly Willoughby move on in her TV career without him. A source told Woman’s Own: “He still can’t bring himself to watch This Morning.

“It would seem unlikely he is avidly tuning in to watch Holly’s return to TV.” The mum-of-three has since stepped back from the ITV show just months after his exit after she was victim to a horror murder and kidnap plan.

At the time, Holly wrote: “It’s been an honour to just be a part of [This Morning’s] story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.”

But in January, the blonde bombshell returned to primetime TV when she returned to her hosting duties on Dancing on Ice alongside her new co-host Stephen Mulhern.
