Kylie Minogue’s BRIT performance confirmed as she lands huge achievement

Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue is to be honoured at this year’s BRIT Awards ceremony as she collects the prestigious Global Icon Award.

Previously won by superstars including Taylor Swift, Elton John and David Bowie, the 55-year old will be recognised for her musical achievements on March 2. Kylie will then cap the evening with a special performance to close the bash at the O2 arena.

Kylie, who rose to fame as an actress on Neighbours and whose career spans across five decades, is also nominated for the International Artist of the Year award. Hosted by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp, her Global Icon Award will be handed to her by British visual artist and painter Rachel Jones

Reacting to the special news Kylie declared: “I am beyond thrilled to be honoured with the Global Icon Award and to be joining a roll call of such incredible artists. The UK has always been a home from home so the BRITs have a very special place in my heart. I have some amazing memories from the awards over the years and I can’t wait to be back on the BRITs stage. See you at the O2!”

A statement from the BRITS added: “Kylie’s glittering 30+ year career has seen her amass sales of over 80 million records worldwide, 5 billion streams and 9 UK No.1 albums. Her multiple awards include 3 BRIT Awards, 18 ARIA Awards, 2 MTV Awards and 2 Grammy Awards.

It continued: “Kylie is the only female artist to score a number one album in five consecutive decades in the UK. In 2023, she released her number one studio album, Tension, preceded by the international smash hit single Padam Padam, which earned Kylie her second Grammy Award earlier this month. In the UK alone, Kylie has achieved seven UK number one singles, and nine UK number one albums.

Public voting is now underway for the five genre award categories. Fans wishing to have their say can do so by selecting their favourite nominee in the Alternative/Rock Act, Dance Act, Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Pop Act, and R&B Act categories via the BRITS’ Instagram account here. This year there are two ways to cast your vote – either by commenting on the category Reel of your choice or by using the pinned post with the unique hashtag (detailed below) for your favourite artist.
