The Chase fans concerned over ‘watershed breach’ after Anne Hegerty’s racy innuendo

The Chase turned racy on Valentines Day with Anne Hegerty making an X-rated innuendo to one player.

At the time of her remark, the programme had literally kicked off at it’s allotted time of 5pm on ITV on Wednesday (February 14). Host Bradley Walsh had just welcomed Anne to her seat when she landed the bombshell.

After contestant Paul had revealed himself to be a fireman, the quiz expert made a beeline for him. She told him with a glint in her eye while smiling: “Hello Paul the firefighter.

She added: “I do like a man with a shiny helmet and breathing apparatus.” As Brad chimed in with “awks,” as he pulled a shocked face.

Fans worry Anne could be in “watershed” breech

Paul couldn’t hide his blushes as he bashfully smirked while glancing down. His co-stars however, fell about the place laughing at the racy double meaning behind Anne’s words.

Fans of the ITV programme were worried the shocking racy remark could have left the Chaser in trouble as they claimed her flirty comment was in watershed breach. One person said: “You cannot say shiny helmet before the watershed.”

Another person wrote: “Didn’t know the meme shiny hel**t. Son said don’t google it. Did as I was told for once #TheChase,” a third added: “Anne likes a Man’s Helmet? Oooooh! #TheChase.”

Paul had a blinder in the cash builder and also managed to defeat the Chaser during his one-on-one round too. It wasn’t just Paul who seemed to luck out against Anne as his team-mates Claire and Beth also made it back.

It was unknown if Anne was having somewhat of an “off day” or if the players were just bringing their A-game on Wednesday’s programme, with the chaser only managing to defeating on person.

With Paul, Beth and Claire successfully back safe for the final and £17,000 to be split three ways, it’s safe to say the threesome went all guns blazing with their questions. They managed to answer 18 correct answers, leaving Anne with some stiff competition.

It went right to the wire, as Anne was left with just four seconds on her clock to answer her last question of which she stumbled and got in wrong. Victory belonged with the three contestants on this occasion and Anne told them it was “well deserved”.
