Fans are now sure they’ve cracked who he is and his link to the Cobbles. One fan speculated: “I guess he’s in prison but what if Lauren’s mystery man is Rob and that’s why Bobby is involved?! #corrie.” However, others dismissed this idea, with one posting: “I wonder who this mysterious ex of Lauren’s is #Corrie,” while another asked: “So who was at Lauren’s door? #Corrie,” and a third queried: “Who is Lauren’s mystery boyfriend?! Tommy O?! Surely it’s a big character #corrie.”
Another viewer suggested: “Is Lauren’s secret love Tommy Orpington she’s got a Weatherfield county jacket on is there a link? #CoronationStreet,” while one impatiently posted: “Oh hurry up and show us who Lauren’s older bloke is? #Corrie,” and another guessed: “One of her ‘clients’?” and another speculated: “Maybe the footballer.” Cait Fitton, who portrays Lauren, recently opened up about her character.
She said “At the start when I came in I wasn’t sure I liked her, but the more I’ve learned about her and why she is the way she is, the more I really care for her. You never know how she’s going to react, I think you love to hate her. There are things that she’s done and will continue to do that I don’t really agree with but they make her her and I don’t want to be a character that everyone likes, I want to be a character that people are intrigued by. I want her to be loved but also hated at the same time.”
She further shared: “There’s so much more of a journey for this character to go on. So I love that people don’t like her sometimes, because half the time I don’t really like her, yet at the same time I’ve got all this feeling underneath that explains why she is the way she is.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm
