Love Island fans in despair as they say final was ‘rigged’ with favourites losing out

Love Island: All Stars fans claim ITV producers “rigged” the final for Molly Smith and Callum Jones to take first and second place.

Tension started to mount among viewers on the online platform X after host Maya Jama, 29, announced that Sophie Piper and Josh Ritchie had placed in third. Masses of fans commented that they were fuming as they pondered over whether the vote had been “fixed”.

One person penned: “No way did Sophie and Josh come in third, we want a recount.” A second agreed: “No way Sophie and Josh came third this is fixed.” A third added: “If Tom and Molly win that’s it I’m not watching again because this is rigged.” While a fourth wrote: “Callum better take the £50K or I’m calling fix.”

Sophie and Josh placed in third and fans weren’t happy about it

Islanders from past shows have spent the past five weeks getting to know each other, in hope of scooping up the £50,000 prize fund and of course, finding love in the process.

Georgia Steel and Toby Aromolaran, Georgia Harrison and Anton Danyluk, Molly Smith and Tom Clare, Callum Jones and Jess Gale and Sophie Piper and Josh Ritchie all made it to the final and were hoping to be crowned the first-ever All Stars champions.

The public – who have been voting at home for weeks – were tasked with casting an all important vote for the couple that they felt were most deserving of taking home the win. It would seem that fans on X – formerly known as Twitter – were happy with the running order until third place was announced.

It was confirmed on Monday’s final episode that Georgia H and Anton had found themselves in fifth place, following them on the podium was Toby Aromolaran and Georgia Steel. In third, came Sophie Piper and Josh Ritchie – with the battle for the crown going to the wire.

Molly and Callum, who are exes from a past Love Island show, won over the public with their love story. However, fans were desperate for the fairytale ending which would have been them actually patching things up and winning together.

Sadly for viewers, that day never dawned, with the former couple from Manchester working out they were actually better off supporting one another as friends. Molly found love with Tom Claire and Callum went on to spark up a decent connection with Jess Gale.

With the ex-couple now battling it out for the prize pot, there could be only one couple crowned as All Stars winners. Stunning host Maya announced: “Molly and Tom are the 2024 winners.”

Molly was visibly shaking as confetti began to smother her and Tom. Callum modestly told the host: “I think the best two won.”
