Danny Masterson ‘given more freedom’ as he’s moved from Charles Manson prison

That ’70s Show star Danny Masterson has been relocated from his former jail that Charles Manson once served time in.

Convicted rapist Masterson, 47, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in May last year following a lengthy court trial. The former actor was convicted of raping two women back in 2003, with charges for a third rape resulting in a hung jury.

Danny has continuously denied the charges, but has now been given a three-decade stint in prison. He will not have the opportunity to receive parole until 2042, when he will be aged 65.

Now, it ‘s reported that Danny has been moved from the prison he had been staying in, which had welcomed another famous inmate into its confines. Former cult leader Charles Manson had also stayed within the walls of Corcoran State Prison in California.

The jail was where Charles had spent the last of his years before passing away in the autumn of 2017. The prison was considered to be “high-security” as it housed some of the most dangerous criminals in not just the state, but the country.

But Masterson now resides in the California Men’s Colony in the Californian city of San Luis Obispo. Having been relocated there in the past week, the prison is considered to provide marginally more freedom for its inmates compared to the stricter, harsher terms of Corcoran State Prison.

The former actor was reported to have been moved to the facility due to concerns over his well-being, according to Deadline. However, this is not the first relocation Danny has had since starting his sentence in December last year.

Initially, he had been held in North Kern State Prison in Los Angeles city centre after being convicted. He was then transferred to reside at Corcoran State on January 29 before again being relocated to his current lodgings.

At the Men’s Colony, the medium-security arrangement of the jail means that Danny has more freedom to pursue new paths in his life whilst locked up. Schemes run in the jail to help re-educate inmates and provide new opportunities including cognitive behavioural therapy and academic education.

The Men’s Colony currently houses 3,400 prisoners from the state of California, and tries to rehabilitate inmates as best as possible during their stint in jail. However, reports of contraband including phones and drugs have been made as cellmates manage to smuggle them in over the prison’s seemingly low walls.
