Carol Kirkwood urged her co-stars to move on during a debate.
The meteorologist, 61, returned to BBC Breakfast on Wednesday (February 21) to share the latest weather updates with viewers across the country. She was joined by Jon Kay and Sally Nugent who presented today’s show.
During the latest instalment, Sally revealed that a pioneering European satellite would be falling back down to earth today. The satellite, described as one of the ‘grandfathers of earth observation’, has been gradually descending since it stopped operating in 2011.

“Don’t worry Sal,” Jon said after confirming it would be falling back into the earth’s atmosphere at some point in the day. The 52-year-old laughed, insisting: “I’m not worried.”
She added: “Because Carol is here and she’s going to tell us a little bit about what the weather might be like on the way down because it’s going to burn up in the atmosphere.” Jon hit back: “It’s a two-tonne satellite Sal, we’ve got to be careful!”
“It’s going to burn up in the atmosphere,” the news anchor insisted. “I’m right aren’t I Carol?”
The Scottish star agreed: “You’re absolutely right, Sal. As always!” Jon chipped in: “Which means.. I’m not.” Carol nervously giggled as she insisted: “Let’s move on from that one quickly!” After Carol concluded her weather report, Jon admitted he was still concerned about the satellite.
“It’s totally fine,” Sally laughed. But the dad-of-three couldn’t let it go as he continued: “They say most of it will burn on the way down. But it’s still a two-tonne satellite, maybe not all of it.”
Both Sally and Carol were quick to reassure their co-star that he had nothing to worry about regarding the satellite. It comes after Sally was forced to miss Monday’s (February 19) instalment of BBC Breakfast.
Fans were instead greeted with Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst, who returned to the BBC’s flagship programme in January after welcoming her third child.
