The Voice confirms new judges in complete overhaul as Olly Murs is replaced

The Voice UK has signed up boyband stars Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher to replace Olly Murs – which will be a first for the iconic show.

McFly members Danny and Tom will sit side-by-side as they go head-to-head against the other judges as a duo and making history books. Together, they will battle against long-standing panel members Tom Jones and Will.i.am.

American country and music star LeAnn Rimes has also joined the judges this year. She’ll be taking over the chair of music legend Anne-Marie.

It’s a show first for team McFly, with Tom and Danny joining forces, but in a format twist, both will have to agree in order to turn the chair which could see problems arise.

Danny is certainly no stranger when it comes to being in the spinning chair with the singer serving up six successful series as a coach on The Voice Kids. However, it’s all new to his former band member Tom and the pair will need to be joined up on who they opt for.

Speaking on joining the team, multi-platinum global superstar LeAnn said: “I’m truly excited and grateful to take on the role of coach on The Voice UK and to be joining an epic panel of coaches. Being able to work with and nurture emerging, vibrant talent in the UK represents a new chapter of my heart felt connection with the wonderful fans I’ve had deep ties with for decades.”

She added: “I’m looking forward to offering my heart and guidance, sharing what I’ve learned through my own musical journey, and discovering the extraordinary talent that the UK is renowned for.”

Tom and Danny also commented: “To be making The Voice UK history as the first ever double chair combo is going to be epic and we’re both ready for the challenge. And of course, we couldn’t ask to be in greater company than our fellow Voice family members Emma, will, sir Tom and LeAnn. Roll on the talent!”

Host Emma was also excited to be back with former panel members Sir Tom and Will.i.am while also giving a warm welcome to the trio of new judges. She said: “I always love getting back to The Voice, reuniting with Sir Tom and will.i.am, and everyone who works on the show is always great.”

The former Big Brother presenter went on to say: “And this year we’re welcoming some brilliant new coaches to the family. Danny’s no stranger to the Voice, so it’s great to have him back in the red chair but this time with his McFly band member (and my mate) Tom Fletcher – I love the idea of a double chair, and Tom and Danny are the perfect fit.

“And adding LeAnn Rimes to the mix, with her wealth of knowledge and expertise is very exciting. Roll on the auditions!”
