Radio 1 host Greg James revealed the devastating reason he had been off air this week.
The presenter opened up to his followers about the reason he hadn’t been on air after a “rotten” week. The host, 38, had been absent from the show on Tuesday morning (February 20).
Instead, stand-in host Matt Edmondson fronted his shift for him as he dealt with the loss of a family member and an illness. Greg told fans how he had taken a “quiet day” after losing his nan who was 100.

On top of this, the Rise and Fall presenter had also been battling a bout of Coronavirus. Greg told his followers what had been going on with a social media update.
Greg wrote: “A pretty rotten week. Got rid of Covid then yesterday my lovely 100-year-old Nan died so have spent a nice quiet day today with family. Excited to be back on the radio tomorrow and very much in need of some fun. With you at 7am.”
After his more seriously-toned statement, Greg came back online with his usual humour as he thanked fans for their support. Greg added: “Ps. Thank you very much for your nice messages.
“You’re very very kind. I sort of wanted to say something because I’ve been out of the loop the last couple of days and haven’t really got back to anyone or said anything and my job requires me to be honest and open and I love that about it. However, the new influx of messages means the problem is now exacerbated and I have even more people to reply to.
“I should have done that thing where families say please respect our privacy which essentially means p*** off, doesn’t it? I don’t want you to p*** off I’m just trying to be funny. I’M GRIEVING FFS LEAVE ME ALONE. Don’t leave me alone. I’m off to look at more photos of Andrew Scott bye xx.”
