Sir David Jason has reprised his role as Del Boy for a new sketch.

The TV legend, 84, agreed to do some filming as the Only Fools And Horses character for the new series of hit motoring show Car SOS. It will be a big treat for fans as it’s the first time he has done it for TV for years.

“It was one of the highlights of my life. It’s something I never thought would happen. When was the last time we saw David playing Del Boy? I can’t remember. So it was absolutely surreal.

We’ll see Del Boy help with the restoration of a Datsun 240k Skyline. Tim added: “I told David I had an idea for a sketch and he said, ‘Oh, you want some lovely jubbly… go on then, let’s give it a pop’.

“He dropped straight into it. The next thing he’s Del Boy and he’s reading a newspaper and he’s selling some car parts on eBay.”

In true Del Boy-style, it was for a motor that was falling apart. Co-host Fuzz Townshend, 59, said: “The car was perfect for him because if you leaned against the roof, you fell straight into it.

“It was a bit like David’s famous sketch where he fell through the bar.” Tim added: “David was an absolute pro. He is as sharp as a razor with wits in every sense of the word.”

The actor recently revealed he loves making jam and gets it from a mulberry tree in his back garden. He lives with wife Gill in the tiny village of Ellesbororough in Buckinghamshire.

He said: “Mulberry is my favourite. We’re lucky enough to have a mulberry tree [and] I enjoy making jams and chutneys…I find it relaxing.”

The new series of Car SOS starts on March 7 at 8pm on National Geographic.
