GMB’s Ben Shephard’s wife appears on show for final day as he demands ‘put her on camera’

Ben Shephard’s rarely-seen wife made a surprise appearance on GMB for his final-ever show.

The long-running programme returned for another instalment on Friday (February 23) with Ben and Kate Garraway back at the helm. But for TV favourite Ben – it was his final day on the ITV show.

Last week it was announced that Ben, 49, along with Cat Deeley would be taking over This Morning, after Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby left last year. So now after a decade, Ben will bid goodbye to Good Morning Britain.

Throughout the episode, Ben received a ton of tributes from his pals over the years. He was even joined by a slew of friends and showbiz colleagues who surprised the TV favourite, like Susanna Reid.

It was Ben’s last day at GMB

And that also included his wife Annie. When asked by Kate what makes Ben so amazing, his friend replied: “He’s just the perfect human!”

Ben then cheekily added: “Can you just get the camera on my wife please?” The programme then showed his wife Annie sitting in the studio laughing. He quipped: “She needs to hear this!”

Ben’s wife appeared on the show

Ben has been married to his designer wife Annie Perks for nearly two decades, who he shares two kids with. The pair met whilst they were both students at the University of Birmingham in 1995. Annie was studying philosophy and was named the head of the Philosophy & Epistemology Society.

Ben previously told Kate Thornton on her podcast White Wine Question Time: “We met at university – so you knew Annie when I just got into the telly – and I was sort of a mere puppy when it came to the world of broadcasting media.

Ben told the camera crew to put her on TV

“She has been through all this with me – the highs and the lows of all that experience. And she is still here, somehow is still putting up with me which to this day, I can’t quite believe that I am extraordinarily lucky.”

The lovebirds got hitched in March 2004 and have mostly kept their family life with sons Jack and Sam private. Annie has a successful career as an interior designer and has worked with the likes of House and Garden, Elle Decor and Glamour.
