Former child star Amanda Bynes offers to give life advice to fans for £158 on Cameo

Former child star and actress Amanda Bynes has taken to offering advice on Cameo while she tries to kickstart her manicurist career.

The She’s the Man star joined the platform last week, and has become “a popular/leading talent”, a spokesperson for Cameo confirmed to The Daily Beast. She now charges £158 for her videos on the website and app that connects fans with celebrities and other notable personalities.

In one video on her profile, Bynes gives some life advice to a fan named Henry, while also sharing her own struggles with starting her new career as a manicurist. “I just wanted to tell you that I totally relate in terms of struggling with work,” she says.

“I have my manicurist certification, but I have yet to get my license.

“I have taken the test three times and I have not passed yet.”

She adds: “It’s a written exam and it’s actually very hard. I’m not stupid and I don’t know why I wouldn’t pass.

“I’ve studied, I’ve taken practice exams, and I have passed the practice exams but I cannot pass the actual board exam.”

While encouraging Henry to stay positive, she further opens up about her mental health.

“I feel like, kind of depressed and just moping around because I have nowhere to go every day, like to clock in and get that self-worth that you gain from accomplishing what you need to accomplish for the day,” she says.

“The best advice is to keep your head up.”

She also uses herself as a prime example for changing careers.

The former actress, 37, kicked started her career as a child when she landed a role in the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, which ran from 1996 to 2000.

She was also the main face of its spin-off series, The Amanda Show, running for three years until 2002.

By this time, Amanda was a rising star in Hollywood. She went on to appear in a number of successful films, including She’s the Man (2006) and Hairspray (2007). In 2009, she was set to star in Post Grad, however pulled out with no explanation.

The following year, she announced she was retiring from acting to pursue a career in fashion. More than a decade later, Amanda revealed she will now be training in beauty.

Making the announcement on Instagram, she tied it in with the cancellation of her podcast, Amanda Bynes and Paul Sieminski.

She told her followers: “The first episode of my podcast did really well.

“I was actually surprised and of course was going to keep going after friends encouraged me to. After thinking about it, though, I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job.”

She signed off the post with: “I’m going to follow that path instead. Thank you for following my journey!”
