Susanna Reid pays emotional tribute to ‘best in the business’ in throwback snap

Susanna Reid has paid tribute to her now former co-star as she brands him “the best in the business”.

Reid, 53, took to her Twitter profile on Friday (February 23) to say farewell to Ben Shephard, who recently announced he would be leaving Good Morning Britain. Instead, he would be moving over to fellow ITV show This Morning, where he will be hosting the show permanently alongside Cat Deeley.

On Ben’s last day as an anchor on Good Morning Britain, Susanna was clearly emotional at seeing him leave the show behind. However, she would not let it get to her as she continued to take cheeky swipes at him throughout the course of the show.

But in a touching tribute to Shephard on her social media platforms, she made sure people knew what she really thought about the hunky presenter. Uploading a throwback snap of the pair beaming with smiles to the camera, she gushed over her co-star and wished him the best of luck on his new adventures.

“BYE BEN!” she wrote. “We’ve all got the blues this morning saying goodbye to the best in the business, Ben Shephard.

“This is us 10 years ago just before the launch of GMB – of course he took me to Upton Park to bond over football! We’re going to miss you – good luck through the wall.”

Reposting the image to his own social media feed minutes later, Shephard thanked his on-screen partner for all she had done for him. He also added a quick bit of banter as he looked back at the old snap of the two enjoying the football match.

“We were supposed to win!!” Ben exclaimed. “That was the first day of a wonderful friendship, a brilliant work relationship and a continuing footy rivalry; thanks Susanna for everything xx.”

Several of Ben’s co-stars on Good Morning Britain also wished him well as he headed off to pastures new. Charlotte Hawkins also shared a throwback pic to the first day of the show, where both Ben and Charlotte smiled at the camera with fresh faces, much to Shephard’s own delight.

Despite the big shift, Ben will be back on our screens very soon as he takes the reins of This Morning permanently with Cat next month. In the meantime, Ben will also be spotted on his other regular mainstays including Tipping Point and Ninja Warrior UK.
