BBC Saturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbutt forced to apologise after awkward name blunder

Presenter Matt Tebbutt was forced to issue an apology during the latest episode of Saturday Kitchen after he got the name of a guest’s chairty event wrong.

The weekend visit to the popular cooking show was met with mixed reviews from fans as the merge of guests made for a chaotic watch. With chef Donal Skehan being the first cook to showcase his culinary skills, his excitement exuded through the screen.

But when Matt asked Donal about a charity event that he’s taking part in, he made a small mistake. He said: “So tell us about the fundraiser you’re doing for the Great British Bake.”

Donal continued: “Yes, we are raising funds for the children’s hospital in Ireland, it’s a charity I do every year and it’s an absolutely brilliant one. I’m a home baker, I only bake at home but I love baking,” he added.

Although fans didn’t seem to pick up on the mishap, they defiinitly picked up on the overall loud volume from the guests on the show. Pointing their fingers at who the noisy culprits were, many looked at Donal and begged him to “pipe down”.

Dolan quickly corrected Matt over his error

Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter, fans shared their greviances. One social media user wrote: “Good God my ears are bleeding after that. Pipe down Donal!”

Another penned: “I think we’re all glad that Donal was first on. Now sit at the table and be quiet.”

A third fumed: “Why did they put that Donal on a Saturday morning programme. He’s totally unsuitable for people waking up with a slight après Friday night mal de tete.”

Viewers thought things were getting too loud

While a fourth added: “Did you know that Donal used to live in L.A.? We do now, as he won’t stop banging on about it.”

Last month, Irish chef Donal landed himself in hot water on ITV’s This Morning while cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Donal accidentally said “a**e” while he was demonstrating his food to viewers, forcing presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle to apologise.
