This Morning’s Sian Welby says ‘lesson learned’ as she opens up on major ITV show regret

Sian Welby has admitted she made a rookie mistake while hosting This Morning.

The 37-year-old presenter recently presented the ITV daytime show and made her debut last month alongside Dermot O’Leary. She was hailed the “new Holly Willoughby” by fans but viewers didn’t know that she was struggling behind the scenes.

Her denim jumpsuit looked great on camera, but when you’re hosting a live show and only have a three-minute advert break in which to dash to the toilet, the stunning outfit wasn’t practical and Sian learned the hard way.

She told The Sun: “I genuinely didn’t have time to wee. The belt was kind of stapled in and three minutes wouldn’t have been enough to run to the toilet, get out of the jumpsuit and get back in front of the cameras again.

“Rochelle Humes said that when she’s hosting and needs the loo, she literally counts the seconds from the start of the ad break as she runs out of the studio. As long as she’s done everything by 60 seconds, she knows she’s fine. But yeah, lesson learned. Easy-access trousers from now on.” Sian previously told Daily Star that missed seeing Holly being on TV.

Speaking at TV Choice Awards 2024, she said: “I think everyone’s just glad to see her back on TV. “We love her, we miss her, the UK loves her.” She went on to compliment Holly’s dazzling ice rink outfits, adding: “I think she looked gorgeous. [I’m a] massive fangirl.”

Speaking about This Morning, she said: “Honestly, probably the best week of my life. I was on This Morning, I can’t believe they sort of gave me the reins to co-host with Dermot O’Leary who I’ve been watching for most of my life, XFactor, Big Brother, he’s a legend.”

Since her stint on the show, many bookmakers and experts suggested that Sian will become a permanent fixture on This Morning, potentially replacing Holly. However, it was confirmed recently that Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley are the new hosts and will take over from next month.
