Dancing on Ice fans fume ‘think of the children’ after steamy topless routine

Dancing on Ice took a raunchy turn during the latest episode when a Magic Mike troupe took to the stage.

There was plenty for viewers to look forward to on Sunday night’s show (February 25) as the six remaining celebs battled it out to secure their place in next week’s semi-finals. But six ripped Magic Mike performers shocked viewers with a topless dance, and many felt it was inappropriate for younger fans of the show.

They burst onto the stage and danced along to Ginuwine’s Pony, bumping and grinding on the stage floor. It was certainly a surprising break from the show’s usual ice skating routines.

As the six men performed their dance, Holly could be seen hiding her face with one of their tops. But judges Oti Mabuse and Johnny Weir appeared to love the act as they danced along in their seats.

Fans headed over to X, formerly known as Twitter, to remind producers that children were watching. One social media user complained: “Not sure the kids were impressed with half-naked men gyrating.”

Another said: “Think of the children. Their poor eyes.” A third viewer shared: “What on Earth has happened to Sunday evening TV? Where’s Songs of Praise?”

A fourth added: “Magic Mike is now wholesome family viewing? What the f*** happened there?”.

Despite the backlash, some fans loved the Magic Mike segment. One person wrote: “Magic Mike dancers or not, that was a TUNE back in the day! (as a kid I didn’t know what I was singing along to though) but I know it weren’t just Genuwine’s voice Oti was reacting to.”

Another wrote: “Well I’ve watched @dancingonice from the start and I have to say, I don’t think I’ve laughed so much as I did watching @StephenMulhern dancing with those Magic Mike hunks. You’re a legend Stephen!”

At the end of Sunday night’s show, things became serious as viewers found who was leaving the programme. After an intense skate off, Eddie The Eagle was sent home after going up against Amber Davies.
