A star from Good Morning Britain has sparked concerns for his health after he presented a report live on-air.
The ITV morning show returned to screens once again on Monday (February 26), with hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley taking on the reins of the show. As the presenters raced through the headlines at the top of the show, they were clearly beaming with smiles as they welcomed viewers onto the programme.
For their main story, Susanna and Richard outlined the ongoing drama surrounding Tory MP Lee Anderson and his comments on Islamophobia. Dealing with the fallout of the debacle, the pair stated how Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is facing calls for Anderson to be dropped from the Tories altogether.

As they went into detail on the information we already know about the story, the pair then threw the link over to Jonathan Swain, a veteran reporter at GMB since its creation in 2014. As he stood outside the Houses of Parliament, he began delivering his report, but immediately he was forced to apologise.
“I should apologise for my voice,” Jonathan explained in a clearly hoarse voice. “I’ve been struggling with a bad cough, but hopefully you can hear me.”
Swain attempted to continue to deliver his report to viewers, but as his speech went on, his voice became more and more strained. As a result, the reporter decided to take the problems on the chin and made it work in his favour by turning the issue into a joke.
As he touched on Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s thoughts on the scandal, he sputtered in his croaky tones: “The Mayor of London has branded the comments ‘Islamophobic’, ‘anti-Muslim’ and ‘racist’. He also criticised Rishi Sunak for the deathly silence – much like myself this morning – from some Conservative MPs.”
Fans watching the show were quick to pick up on Jonathan’s ill health and rushed to social media to let their thoughts be heard. One concerned fan exclaimed: “Get that man a Strepsil now!”
A second user cheekily quipped: “Remember when you had go to school ill, but was trying your hardest to get sent home from the second you got there? That’s Swainy right now.”
Whilst a third account added: “Swainy can’t continue with that croaky voice!” With a fourth simply appealing for him to get better: “Hope your voice comes back soon Jonathan!”
Good Morning Britain airs every weekday at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
