Emmerdale’s Lawrence Robb announces new project after sharing soap axe fears

Emmerdale’s Lawrence Robb has announced a new project away from the ITV soap.

The actor revealed he will be running the London Marathon in April. Despite it being a “crazy” decision, Lawrence explained he is tackling it to raise money for Samaritans.

Samaritans is a charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress or at risk of suicide. The soap star made the announcement in an Instagram video as he cradled his dog.

“I’m running the London marathon which is crazy,” he told his followers. “But I’m running because it’s a wonderful cause and I’m trying to raise as much money as possible to make people realise that they’re not alone.”

Lawrence shared a number of snaps and videos of him training for the huge event. He added in the caption: “London Marathon Run Alert!!! I’m going to ask you for your hard earned money now. Link to my fundraiser is on my profile. @samaritanscharity.”

The star added: “I’m trying to raise as much money as possible to help train volunteers to help anyone that’s struggling to cope. Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated! Big love all!! Swipe to see the struggle.”

Fans rushed to wish Lawrence good luck on the marathon and also begged him not to leave Emmerdale. One wrote: “Good luck!! Don’t you dare to leaving us Emmerdale! Please!!! I am your fave fan!!”

Another penned: “Good luck. Hope you raise loads of money. Pleeeeaaaasssee don’t leave Emmerdale.” A third echoed: “Run Lawrence, run. Good luck.”

It comes after Lawrence recalled the moment he was told he was being written out of Emmerdale. When Lawrence learned that Charity (Emma Atkins) was going to stab Mackenzie, he believed this was his exit storyline.

“The producers pitched it as though I was going to leave the show,” he exclusively told Daily Star. “They told me that Charity stabs Mackenzie and I was like I need to start looking for another job then!”

Thankfully for fans, Mackenzie survived the attack. Despite initially being shocked at the prospect, Lawrence admitted he was excited to act it out as it was something he’s never done during his four years on the ITV soap.

He explained: “I was actually excited about having that because I’ve been on the show for a little while now and I’ve not got the chance to do this. Needless to say the novelty of lying in a hospital bed wore off pretty quickly but I’ve never done that.”

Lawrence added: “They pitched it as I was going to flatline at the end of one episode and everyone was going to be left wondering if I was going to die. So I was quite excited.”
