A Married at First Sight star made show history as he pulled out of the show before his wedding.
Simon, 39, was set to marry a stranger on series 11 of the Aussie dating show, but pulled out just days before he was due to walk down the aisle. He left his match Michael heartbroken over the news.
The South Australia-based marketing manager attended the bucks night with his fellow grooms, while Michael joined the brides at the hen night. But he couldn’t go through with the wedding and expert John Aiken was forced to deliver the news during Wednesday’s episode (February 28) of the E4 dating show.

The expert kicked off the awkward conversation by saying: “It’s highly unusual for me to come and visit a participant but I’ve got some real disappointing and shocking news.
“After the bucks and hens night, your match decided to send us an email saying he no longer wanted to be a part of the experiment.” Michael was lost for words before he finally responded: “That’s definitely a hard blow.”
He added: “I feel like somebody just ripped by heart out of my chest.” When Michael explained he wanted to understand why his match pulled out so suddenly, John insisted it was nothing to do with him.
“I don’t want you to take this personally,” he told the contestant. “This happened because your match couldn’t cope with the experiment, the unknown and the pressure.” John explained that the experts were now looking for a new match for Michael because they want to find him the person he deserves.
After dropping out of MAFS, Simon explained the reason behind his decision during an interview with Daily Mail Australia. He said: “MAFS wasn’t what I thought I wanted at this point in my life, that’s all.”
He added: “I just felt bad for whoever they set me up with. I did initially leave, but they managed to coax me back… I gotta look out for myself.” It was reported that Simon pulled out because of the pressure that came with the experiment.
“The day after filming the bucks party, show bosses called all the grooms in for a meeting whilst they were in Sydney,” a show insider told Yahoo Lifestyle: “They spent hours going over their contracts which they’d all now signed, discussing in great detail the potential ramifications if they breach them and breaking down exactly what the next six months would be like, including press intrusion and people from their pasts speaking out.”
Simon, who was previously married and has a teenage son, is believed to have quit the show after this meeting took place.
