As Kesha celebrates her 37th birthday today, Daily Star looks back at some of Kesha’s sexual confessions.
No sexual labels
Kesha first addressed her sexuality publicly in 2019, when she admitted that she was bisexual. Speaking to LGBTQ+ magazine Attitude, she explained that she had never felt any pressure to open up about her sexual orientation.
“I never hid [my bisexuality] from anybody; I never had a moment of feeling I had to come out about it,” she explained. “It was always there. I think I had a conversation with a gay magazine in the US and they just asked me, ‘Oh, are you bisexual?’ and I was like, ‘Obviously!’”
However, in 2022, she later retracted her coming out as bisexual and instead refused to put a label on how she identified. She said in another interview that she “doesn’t know what she is”, adding that she is “refusing to be anything really, except for open to all”.
Kesha would later explain that instead of physical attraction, she is a lot more focused on the personality and “soul” a person had. She explained: “I have always been attracted to the soul behind a person’s eyes. It has never occurred to me to care about a specific gender, or how someone is identifying, to make me wonder about whether or not I’m attracted to them.”

In the early 2010s, Kesha went viral across social media when she admitted that she had gotten down and dirty with a ghost. She admitted that she had had penetrative sex with the entity and that it had changed her view of things, sending the Internet into a frenzy at the time.
However, some years later, Kesha explained that she did not have sex with a ghost. Instead, she described her ghostly meet-ups as a “sensual experience” that had awoken something within her.
On the first episode of her Disney+ show Conjuring Kesha, the musician set the record straight: “I had something wake me up while I was in bed with my boyfriend at the time, and it was a touch down the body. I woke up and looked at the end of the bed and there was an apparition of a woman. So, full disclosure, I never actually slept with a ghost,” she admitted. “But she did wake me up in a very sensual way.”
