Coronation Street fans were over the moon to see real-life couple Joe Duttine and Sally Carman share a scene on the popular ITV soap.
Joe, who plays Tim Metcalfe, is married to Sally’s character Abi Webster in the show. Even though their characters are connected through Sally and Kevin’s past relationship, they don’t often appear on screen together.
In reality, Sally and Joe are a couple and viewers were excited to see Tim and Abi interact as Abi joined Steve and Tim for drinks while they discussed Tracy’s affair with Tommy Orpington. One fan wrote: “I still can’t believe Abi and Tim are married in real life lol #Corrie.”

Joe and Sally have been together for several years and tied the knot in 2022. They decided to get engaged during lockdown, taking their relationship to the next level.
In 2021, Sally said: “Coronation Street has completely changed my life, I feel really settled. I’ve got myself a fiance, I’ve moved house, and I’ve got a family and brilliant friends.”, reports the Mirror.
“Before Corrie, my life was about the next job. Now I’m at an age where I’ve pretty much done everything I want to do and this is a job where I get to do different storylines and hang out with good friends at work. Then I come home to my nice house and my family. I feel like I’m putting roots down for the first time in my life.”
The couple tied the knot in July 2022. Among their celebrity well-wishers were Kimberly Hart-Simpson who played Nicky Wheatley on Corrie, who wrote: “Oh my loooooooord Yess! Happy ever after,” and Samia Longchambon aka Maria Connor on Corrie, who wrote: “Omg look at you two. Congrats you gorgeous humans.”
Another congratulatory message came from actress Rebecca Ryan who said: “Congratulations!! So so happy for you both! ! You look incredible Sally xxxx.”
He asked her to marry him during a romantic treasure hunt with his children involved. She recalled the moment saying: “We were walking around this big field on this walk and he said: “Kids, have a look in between the dry stone walling because you know, they used to put coins and precious things to hide them in the walls.
“You look at that bit Jeanie, and Joseph you look at that thing, Sal why don’t you get involved? ” After having a few beers because that’s what we did in lockdown, I found this box.
“And I opened it. I remarked: ‘No way.’ And then there was another box inside. And when I turned around, he was on one knee.”
