Simon Cowell broke down in tears in an emotional display as he gave a heart-wrenching speech at a charity event.
Music tycoon Simon, 64, had been attending a ball in aid of Together for Short Lives, which provides palliative care and support for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses and diseases such as cancer. He attended the lavish event, held in London’s Dorchester Hotel, together with fiancée Lauren Silverman.
As a patron of the charity, Simon was invited to speak on behalf of those donating money to fund the charity. As he got up on stage to a rapturous applause, he started to become emotional, adding that he “couldn’t talk”, pleading with guests to support the fundraising effort.

Fighting back tears at during his monologue, he said: “So, I can’t talk, so we discussed doing something slightly different. Previously, we’ve asked people to stand up and pledge £1,000.”
Thankfully, Simon was able to progress through his speech and was given a hearty response from the guests at the event. Fiancée Lauren was also supportive of her groom-to-be, as she sported a glamorous black floor-length frock that gave her a busty look.
As well as this, the pair were also joined by TV host and columnist Vanessa Feltz, who herself took on a glitzy look. In one photo she emerged from the venue in a stunning champagne-coloured sheer dress with a host of sequins sewn on to add an extra touch of glam.
Simon recently shocked viewers when he appeared on a recent episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Jumping on the show, he left fans startled when he appeared to look “frozen” due to a series of surgical procedures he had in recent years.
Making a small cameo on the first episode of the final series of the show on Saturday (March 2), Cowell distracted fans with his looks, as opposed to what he was actually on the show for. Simon has denied having a face lift in order to keep himself young, but did admit that he had applied too much Botox, which has affected him.
Simon appeared on the show after comedian Stephen Merchant had pulled him over on his bike posing as police as the music mogul made his way along the California coast. After revealing he was being set up, Stephen quipped to Simon: “I didn’t like it, I loved it!”
