Sydney Sweeney’s cleavage sparked an online debate on ‘wokeness’ after a clip of her hosting Saturday Night Live went viral.
Sydney, 26, hosted the popular US sketch show on March 2 and footage of the Hollywood star saying goodbye to the audience has been viewed more than 25million times online.
The Euphoria celeb’s extremely low-cut black dress didn’t leave much to the imagination but unexpectedly, also had right-wing commentators declaring “wokeness is dead”, sparking a bizarre online debate.

Conservative commentator Richard Hanania reposted the video on X/Twitter, with a caption that read: “Wokeness is dead.” Meanwhile blogger Ian Miles Cheong shared the same footage, declaring that “wokeness is so finished.”
Many on the platform were quick to question the conclusion the commentators were drawing and called out the right-wingers.
Writer Ben Dreyfuss posted a screenshot of Hanania’s comments and wrote: “Conservatives keep trying to change the game here, OK? Libs never said women can’t show cleavage. We are the people who are supportive of women owning their own sexuality! OK? We invented that.”
Another wrote: “The brains on the right are just absolutely charbroiled beyond repair. How do [you] see a nice rack and your mind immediately goes to ‘how can I make this political’?”
This comes after Sydney was branded the ‘hottest woman alive’ following a teaser for the SNL show which saw her don a tiny leotard.
In a stunning red combination, she donned a skin-tight leotard which accentuated her curves and featured ruffles down by her hips. The top of the one-piece fell in a sweetheart neckline as she paired the look with some red velvet gloves.
The actress opted for a Jessica Rabbit look and had fans gushing, as one Twitter user wrote: “Time to show appreciation to the hottest woman alive Sydney Sweeney.”
The A-lister also appeared in a handful of skits on the show, including one set at Hooters where she was raking in the tips while her co-workers were struggling to hit triple digits.
