Home and Away has signed up a DC Universe star as the soap’s newest “bad boy”.
Melbourne-born actor Joshua Orpin is set to shake things up in Summer Bay as he’s landed a new role on the soap. The 29-year-old, best known for his role as Superboy in US TV series Titans, will be relocating to Sydney to star in the long-running Aussie drama.
In an interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph, Joshua said: “One of the reasons I was keen to do this gig was because of that, I have worked internationally and I have been quite homesick. Especially over Covid where I wasn’t able to come back to Australia even when I wasn’t working.”

Teasing more about what fans can expect from his character, the actor explained: “He is a bit of a bad boy who comes into the show and stirs up some trouble among the Summer Bay locals. He is seemingly one thing on the surface but he has a great depth to him I’ve had a lot of fun exploring.”
Joshua studied at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) from 2015-2017, the same renowned acting school that produced Heath Ledger and Hugh Jackman. His career officially kickstarted in 2018 when he starred in an episode of The Doctor Blake Mysteries.
The following year, he landed the role of Conner Kent, better known as Superboy. Featuring predominantly on the superhero TV series, Joshua’s new role is a breath of fresh air and something he was keen to explore.
“As an actor, I crave a bit of variety,” he said. “You never want to be doing the same thing for too long.” The rising star confessed the opportunity to appear on the soap came out of the blue.
“It was kind of sudden, unexpected, the kind of joyous moment you really don’t see many of as an actor grinding away with callbacks and auditions,” he explained.
Joshua is now keen for fans to see him take on a new role which is completely different to what they’ve seen of him over the last few years.
He said: “I’m feeling very lucky to have been given the chance to get into this character, which is a bit of a deviation from what a lot of people would expect from me if they’ve seen Titans or any of the other little bits and pieces that I’ve done over the years.”
