Dancing on Ice’s Ryan Thomas says he wants ‘inspirational’ co-star to win show over him

Ryan Thomas would rather his co-star win Dancing on Ice.

The actor, 39, is one of this year’s finalists alongside Adele Roberts, Greg Rutherford and Miles Nazaire. Ryan is partnered with two-time British national champion, Amani Fancy.

The former Coronation Street star opened up about how he’s feeling ahead of the final, airing on Sunday night (March 10), in an exclusive chat with Daily Star and other press. Although Ryan admitted winning would be the perfect way to end his Dancing on Ice journey, Adele, 44, is the person he would love to see win it.

“Adele is the most inspirational lady I’ve ever met,” he gushed. “I know as a fit 40-year-old man, coming up, my body is really really starting to struggle now. I’ve got pains that just won’t go away anymore.”

Ryan continued: “But it’s Adele that does it with a smile on her face, with a stoma bag. Everything else that she goes through off the ice, she never brings to the ice.

“She does it all with grace and she tells a story. I’m a massive champion for Adele and I would love for her to win it.”

The ex-Neighbours star added: “I hope she does win it and she proves everyone wrong that it is time a lady won. I think we all look at Adele in awe and we couldn’t have asked for a better finalist.”

Although Ryan would love to see Adele walk away as champion, he joked that he would love to win because his friend and Corrie co-star Chris Fountain finished in second place behind Ray Quinn in 2008.

“It would be lovely to win because my mate Chris Fountain came second,” he laughed. “So if I came first I would love to say it to him.” Ryan revealed that all of his family will be in the studio supporting him on Sunday, except for his two younger children, Roman, four and 22-month-old Lilah.

Although the Celebrity Big Brother winner admitted he has no plans in skating once the show has finished, he might have no choice. He explained: “I think my son gets a little bit jealous that I’m going ice skating without him.”

“He goes a bit quiet when he sees me on the telly so I’m going to have to take him ice skating when I finish here,” Ryan laughed. “The last thing I want to do is go ice skating and now I’m going to have to do some more with him.”

Dancing on Ice Final airs Sunday, March 10
