Dancing On Ice star Colin Grafton has opened up about coming out, saying he’s at a place in his life where he has “fully accepted” himself and hopes to help others.
The US skating pro publicly shared last month that he was gay, although his friends and family already knew. He told Pink News at the time that he “never really felt the need to announce it before”.
Colin, 32, has now revealed to the Mirror that coming to terms with his sexuality was “a journey” and that it happened “over the span of many years”. He also explained that he hopes the fact he is proud of who he is may help other people.

“I’m at a place in my adult life where I have fully accepted myself, and I am proud of the person I am,” he said. “I hope that me being open and proud of myself and fully embracing every aspect of who I am, can help someone else do the same or feel some sort of level of support and comfort that they are not alone.”
The skating star went on: “I have been very fortunate in the fact that I have not faced many challenges other than coming to terms with my sexuality over the span of many years. It’s been a journey but I couldn’t be happier of where I am at.”
Colin joined ITV’s Dancing On Ice last year and got all the way to the final with The Vivienne, where they came third. This year he was partnered with actress Claire Sweeney in the ice-skating competition but they have already been eliminated. The pair were the third couple to get the boot, leaving the rink in February.
Talking about his sexuality to Pink News in February, he said: “I told my closest friends, I told the people around me and I eventually told my parents. I was maybe 24 when all that happened. I know there’s a lot of curiosity about my sexual orientation and my love life, but I never actually came out to the public.”
“I guess this is me announcing it to you guys,” he said.
