Dancing on Ice star Greg Rutherford’s fiancée has joked that her partner’s penis had “snapped off” after being interrogated by loyal fans.
The Olympic long jumper, 37, was forced to pull out of the final at the last minute when he took a tumble and suffered a horrific injury. To make matters worse, the injury took place on the day of rehearsals for the final and resulted in him getting stitches for the damage that been done.
Redhead Rutherford has kept quiet about his injury and the details surrounding it. However, taking to his Instagram story on Wednesday (March 13), he told fans that he would be going to be revealing all on his Instagram later in the week.

But Greg’s fiancée, Susie Verrill, was determined to have some fun and make light of the situation. Referencing her husband’s Instagram story, Susie took to her own social media to give fans the low-down on “exactly what happened”, quipping: “I’ll tell you, his penis snapped off.”
Partner Greg, upon seeing the post, reposted Susie’s story to his own social media platforms, responding to the hypothesis with a series of confused emojis. Fans have been concerned for Greg following the injury, but Greg has been consistently keeping fans updated on how his recovery is going.
In his update on his Instagram story on Wednesday, Rutherford added that he was still experiencing pain as a result of the illness. He added that his stomach was “not in a good way”, but would go into more detail about what exactly was affecting him 24 hours later.
Keeping himself cosy in a dressing gown, Greg kept himself active as he walked around his kitchen filling his fans in on what has been going on. “Loads of people are asking exactly what happened,” Greg revealed.
“I will be able to give a full rundown tomorrow. I’m seeing a specialist to figure out a plan of action and everything else.
“But my stomach is not in a good way and it’s going to need fixing. So that is what is going to be happening but I’ll give you a full rundown of everything when I know exactly what is happening,” he finished.
It comes following a lover’s tiff between the pair after Susie described Greg’s recovery as going “well”. Rutherford himself, on the other hand, disagreed, saying that he was “very sore” and “very tired” still one week on from his horror hospital dash.
As a result of the injury that Greg sustained, he was forced to drop out of the ITV ice skating competition. This left three couples battling it out to be the winner of the show – Corrie star Ryan Thomas, BBC DJ Adele Roberts and Made in Chelsea star Miles Nazaire.
Corrie star Thomas was eventually crowned the show’s latest winner together with professional dance partner Amani Fancy. After he was declared the winner, Ryan was visibly choked up as he fought back tears, and paid tribute to his partner, as well as Greg, who was watching the show from home.
