Martin, who was probably trying his best not to freak out next to his crush, admitted he watched her as Sergeant Makepeace in police drama Dempsey and Makepeace. He posted the snap on Instagram and wrote: “Bit of a teenage crush moment for me here.

“I used to watch Dempsey and Makepeace in the 1980s, loved the programme, loved the action and thought Glynis Barber so beautiful. So I was quite bashful to meet her today at This Morning but not enough not to ask for a photo.”

Fans flocked to the comments to swoon over Glynis. One wrote: “I think we all had a crush on her back in the 80’s she still looks fabulous.”

Fans couldn’t believe how youthful the Dempsey and Makepeace star looked

Another, noting her seemingly unchanged appearance, gushed: “She hasn’t aged!”.

Glynis has become a big soap star, having appeared as Glenda Mitchell in EastEnders between 2010 and 2017 and DCI Grace Barraclough in Emmerdale for a year until 2007. She now stars as villainous grandma Norma Crow in Hollyoaks.

The South-African actress teased a comeback to EastEnders in 2015. She said: “I’ve always felt that Glenda left with a few unresolved issues. It would be fun to go back and create a little bit of havoc!”.

Glynis, Ronnie, Roxy and Danny’s mum, returned for two episodes in 2016 then came back full-time in 2017 before leaving again. She said Glenda could come back in theory but is unsure why that would be the case.

She told RadioTimes: “The door is open in theory but would they want her? Her girls are gone, there are grandchildren she barely has anything to do with, but you never know”.
