Kanye West admitted he once attempted to have a threesome with his then-girlfriend Amber Rose and fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.
On Friday (March 15), the dad-of-three looked back on the awkward attempt during an interview on Big Boy TV. The Heartless hitmaker, 46, was also joined by Ty Dolla $ign as they discussed their collaborative studio album, Vultures.
In 2010, the Superbass singer dropped the hit single Monster, where she rapped about having a “menage” with Kanye and Amber Rose. After the song hit the airwaves, West tried to make the song a reality.

At one point in the interview, Big Boy brought up the Jamaican American rapper, Safaree – and Kanye remembered approaching him about the threesome while they worked on his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
At the time, the rapper was dating Amber Rose and Safaree was in a relationship with Nicki – which Kanya claimed he was completely unaware of. He explained: “You know what’s so messed up like is like, we didn’t really know they was together.
“So, we down doing Dark Fantasy and he in the studio… I’m like, ‘Yo Safaree, you think Nicki would let me and Amber hit? Like what she said?’” Ye then added: “This is her man!” as the trio burst into laughter.
Kanye cheekily joked: “Like you gotta make these raps true!” Hours later, DJ Akademiks shared a snippet of the interview to his Instagram page which he captioned: “Ye says he was tryna have a threesome with Nicki and Amber Rose.”
It was at this point that Safaree confirmed the story when he jumped into the comments section. He wrote: “Yea that happened” alongside a string of cry-laughing emojis. The Flashing Lights singer dated Amber Rose from 2008 until the couple went their separate ways two years later in 2010.
Safaree notably had a long-term relationship with Nicki Minaj after they met in 2000 before they called it quits in 2014. Both Safaree and Nicki were part of the hip-hop group, Hoodstars in the early 2000s alongside rappers Loustar and Seven Up.
The Big Boy interview comes shortly after both Ye and Dolla $ign took to the stage at the LA-based hip-hop festival called Rolling Loud earlier this week on Thursday (March 14). But it’s fair to say fans were less than impressed by West’s “headlining” performance at the music event.
It’s fair to say many fans were expecting the rappers to perform live, but the pair took to the stage without mics as pre-recorded hits from their chart-topping album Vultures played. According to the Los Angeles Times: “Kanye roamed around in a black jacket and a face mask as their songs played over the festival’s sound system.”
Fans flooded to social media to share their frustration by the bamboozling display. One user penned: “Sounds like you guys disappointed your fans AGAIN with Kanye and at this point it feels like a literal scam.”
Another agreed: “Wow horrible ‘performance’ and they didn’t drop the album does this get any better.” A third echoed: “If you brought him to do that then you may as well not bring him at all.”
