Coronation Street fans think they know exactly what happened to Lauren Bolton after sharing an expert calculation that “proves” who her kidnapper is.
Lauren has been missing since February on the ITV cobbles, with bloodstains found at her flat and the police bringing in Roy Cropper and Daniel Osbourne for questioning. It’s been turned into a murder investigation despite no body being found… but fans have a different theory altogether.
Some reckon Bethany Platt’s abuser Nathan Curtis could have been released from prison for good behaviour and started grooming Lauren to do the same thing he would have to Bethany – sell her as a sex slave abroad. Nathan and his co-conspirators were found guilty of rape and conspiracy to commit rape in 2017, and the average prison sentence for rape ranges anywhere from four to 19 years behind bars.

It was never confirmed on the show just how long Nathan got for his crimes, but on average those found guilty receive around 10 years. Halved for good behaviour, it could mean Nathan was released in 2022, giving him plenty of time to seduce Lauren as her ‘boyfriend’.
Taking to X to share their thoughts, one fan penned: “I reckon Nathan Curtis had something to do with it? My guess is he was released from prison at the end of last year for good behaviour after serving half of his sentence.”
Somebody else agreed: “Yes fairly obvious, hence Bethany is back.” Another fan echoed: “Is it the evil Nathan who has got Lauren? Bethany’s ex… there has to be a reason she’s back.”
Another eagle-eyed fan said: “When’s Nathan due out of prison? My money’s on him being Lauren’s secret boyfriend.” And another fan agreed: “I hadn’t thought of that. I guess he’d be about halfway through his sentence by now, so maybe he could get out on good behaviour.”
Actor Chris Harper’s schedule seems pretty free for a Corrie return at the moment, as he finished filming his last episodes of Call the Midwife in 2023. He’s also starred in Doctors and various Doctor Who spin-off podcasts since leaving the cobbles.
It comes after Lauren star Cait Fitton apparently “confirmed” her character’s fate on Instagram, with her bio now reading: “Previously Lauren in @CoronationStreet”, hinting that her character has been killed off – or at least exited – for good.

Cait dropped hints that the storyline could unfold for “months”, speaking to The Sun at the TV Choice Awards. She explained: “There’s a lot happening with her [Lauren], I love playing her. Big things are coming for Lauren in 2024.
“With the whole boyfriend thing, I can’t say too much but it is going to unfold over the next year potentially. It’s a heavy storyline but Coronation Street always smash the hard hitting stuff, so I’m really excited.”
