This Morning star ‘set to replace Ant McPartlin on BGT’ as he takes break from TV

A host of This Morning is rumoured to be stepping in for Ant McPartlin on Britain’s Got Talent.

Ant is readying himself for a “new chapter” and that could include missing out on the the live shows of the TV competition that are due to air in the summer. If the Geordie star needs to leave the show suddenly, then Cat Deeley is being lied up as a stand-in presenter.

A telly insider shared with The Sun: “They are considering whether Dec would present alone… Cat and Stephen, who the lads have worked with in the past, are front-runners.”

This news comes after Ant recently explained why he and Dec will be taking a break from hosting Saturday Night Takeaway. He revealed that they needed to spend more time at home.

He told Fault Magazine: “We have both got children that we need to spend time with for a little bit. We need time to think and, and time to step back and look at the bigger picture and just see where we are now.”

Dec, who has two little ones, Isla who is five and Jack who’s just one, with his wife Ali Astall. Ant’s wife Anne-Marie has two children from a former relationship but it’s been reported the pair are expecting a baby together.

A friend of Ant’s told OK! that Ant is ready to start a fresh chapter in his life with Anne-Marie helping him out. He’s looking to spend more time with family, something he didn’t think he’d get to do.

His pal said: “Ant has never been happier and it’s certainly down to Anne-Marie and the content family life they have created together. It’s the perfect time for them to start a family.”

The friend went on to share that since the Geordie duo are slowing down on work to be with family, Ant apparently can’t wait to start “relaxing” and enjoy “quality family time” with the people he loves. They said Ant is buzzing about the next few months and “everything that it’s going to bring.”

“It feels the right time to take a break from Saturday Night Takeaway as him and Dec both want to spend time with the kids and just want family weekends,” explained Ant’s friend.
