Piers Morgan has given his thoughts on the ongoing conspiracy theories surrounding the Princess of Wales.
Kate Middleton has been at the centre of a media storm in recent weeks, as she seemingly “went missing” after having surgery. Middleton was kept away from the world as she recovered, but over time there have been multiple conspiracies as to where she has disappeared.
These speculations even made it all the way to the showbiz world, where Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith was asked, ‘Where’s Kate?’ as he went into the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this month. He refused to answer the question directly, quipping as a response: “Somewhere comfortable, behind the sofa perhaps!”

Now, former Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers has given his thoughts on the situation, adding that the entire media fiasco could have been avoided. Joking in a new piece published by The Sun, he exclaimed: “I realised nothing would [calm conspiracies], short of Kate appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored clutching a verifiable DNA test result to prove she is who she says she is.”
However, Morgan insisted that Buckingham Palace needs to adapt to a new media-rich world and that Kate is now the star of the show. “Kate Middleton is now the biggest star in the Royal Family and has become a crown jewel who must be protected at all costs,” he penned.
Drawing comparisons to Princess Diana before she was killed, Morgan said that he had not seen public hysteria for the royals as high until now. He also ominously suggested: “We all know how that tragically ended.”
New figures released in a poll conducted by both Sky News and YouGov found that Kate is the most well-trusted royal in the family. Similarly, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have fallen dramatically out of favour with the public, with Kate and William taking to new heights.
However, the string of PR disasters, according to Morgan, has put this reputation on the line, adding that Buckingham Palace’s approach to handling the media is losing its magic touch. He added: “I understand the Princess’s desire to keep her health issue secret, as any woman would, and her strong-willed husband’s even greater desire to stop the media finding out, but by not saying anything, they’ve made the scrutiny and rumour-mongering a million times worse.”
He also pointed to the Mother’s Day photo scandal, which saw Kate edit several elements of the picture before it was released to the general public. Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to point out the spots, prompting a response from the Princess just hours after the photo was released explaining her “experimentation with editing”.
Morgan revealed that the way the Palace handled these fiascos is key to how the drama unfolded and insisted that the royals need to be more open and transparent in order to quash conspiracies early on.
He advised they should just explain what’s been going on in order to make it all simmer down.
Piers lamented how following Diana’s death, royals have enjoyed greater amounts of privacy, allowing for it to be “much easier” to be a royal in today’s day and age. However, he closed off his column by admitting: “All the crazy conspiracy stuff could have been avoided if they had said from the start exactly what Kate’s health issue is, and her press team should have persuaded her to agree.”
