Coronation Street fans think they’ve cracked the case of who’s behind Lauren Bolton’s mysterious disappearance.
A character seemed to “slip up” and give away a hint in recent scenes. Not long ago, Roy Cropper was mistakenly arrested on suspicion of killing his former employee.
Fans of the ITV soap will remember that troubled teen Lauren suddenly left the street earlier this year, leaving her boyfriend Bobby Crawford worried when he discovered her flat unlocked and empty.

Viewers never saw Lauren leave, and it appears she didn’t tell anyone about her plans to leave Weatherfield except for Roy, as she disappeared without a trace. Bobby reported Lauren missing to the police and Roy became a suspect due to his kind nature, particularly after he was seen innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some took as evidence of his guilt.
Earlier this week, Max Turner overheard David and Shona Platt wondering if Lauren’s dad’s far-right group could be involved in her disappearance. Max decided to secretly visit Lauren’s dad Reece in prison, where he questioned him about his daughter’s location and accidentally revealed that Roy had been falsely accused of Lauren’s murder.
Reece didn’t know where his daughter was, and later, Roy was taken hostage at his cafe by two suspicious men who were friends of Lauren’s dad Reece, reports the Mirror. In the latest twist on Coronation Street, the coppers have been grilling Daniel Osbourne because he used to give lessons to Lauren. In Wednesday’s show, Max was winding up Bethany Platt about Daniel being in hot water, but Daniel heard and got in Max’s face.
Daniel flipped the script on Max, hinting that maybe Max is the one who’s done something dodgy with Lauren since he’s so keen to point fingers at others. Later on, Daniel was mad when he found out he’d been kicked out of his job and had a go at Max, who just snapped back.
At the same time, some Weatherfield residents held a candlelight get-together for Lauren, where Max talked like she was gone for good, making Bobby tell him off for being such a downer. Viewers at home started wondering if Max might be the one who’s mixed up in Lauren going missing, even though they first thought it could be Bobby or footballer Tommy Orpington.
People on Twitter were all over it, with one person tweeting: “What was that Max? You know she’s not coming back. Why’s that then #Corrie”, someone else wrote: “”We’re not going to see her” ………….. Max do you know something everyone else doesn’t? ! ? #Corrie” and another fan posted: “How is Roy a suspect but Max isn’t? #Corrie”.
Corrie fans are on the edge of their seats, with one tweeting: “Wonder if Max has something to do with it? ? He’s very keen to throw other people under the bus! #Corrie”. Another fan posted: “Max has set this up #corrie”, and someone else said: “Daniel does have a point.. how comes Max isn’t being treated as a suspected? #Corrie.”
Some viewers reckon Bethany might be mixed up in the drama too. Daniel asked her: “I don’t think Roy killed Lauren, do you? ” Bethany hesitated, then said: “No” but looked really shifty.nA soap fan tweeted: “Just putting it out there, but Bethany’s involved I think #corrie”, another suggested: “i was thinking that, the way she was talking it’s almost like Bethany knows Daniel’s innocent #Corrie” and another is sure: “Bethany knows more, I’m certain #Corrie.”
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
