Roman Kemp delivered an emotional statement on The One Show after Kate Middleton shared her cancer news.
The magazine show was paused on Friday (March 22) following the news that the Princess of Wales was battling cancer. An hour before the live broadcast, news broke around the world that Kate has begun chemotherapy for cancer after the major abdominal surgery she underwent in January revealed signs of cancer.
The future Queen , wife of Prince William and mother to Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, had become the centre of social media speculation in recent weeks after not being seen in public since Christmas Day.

The big story on the BBC One Six O’Clock News was about Kate’s cancer battle. Later, as the last One Show of the week started just after 7pm, Roman and his co-host Clara Amfo wanted to talk about it right away and send their best wishes.
Clara said to everyone watching: “Like everyone, we’re still taking in the news about the Princess of Wales, which she’s announced she powerfully and personally in her own words.”
Then Roman said: “Our thoughts are very much with the Princess and the rest of her family and we wish her well for her recovery,” before they commenced with the rest of the show, looking forward to chatting with guests from the popular BBC drama Beyond Paradise and the famous Ben Elton.
In an emotional video message, Catherine, 42, announced her health condition and expressed optimism. She appreciated everyone for their kindness during a challenging few months post-surgery.
Initially, a spokesperson reassured us in January that Princess’s condition was not cancerous.
However, the mother of three confessed: “Tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
Catherine said: “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate. As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”
“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”
The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm
