Tom Cruise covered in blood as Mission Impossible filming shuts down central London

Tom Cruise has been spotted sprinting through London while filming scenes for the new Mission: Impossible movie.

Hollywood’s most daring action hero was seen running through Central London with a bloodied white t-shirt in the early hours of the morning. The 61-year-old was shooting explosive scenes for the latest film in the Mission Impossible franchise, where he plays field agent Ethan Hunt.

Cruise’s character was being chased by an army and a police force through some of London’s most famous spots on Sunday night (March 24). Whitehall, Parliament Square, and Westminster Bridge was transformed into a battleground.

Central London was locked down from midnight until 4am to allow the A-lister to film the pulse-racing scenes for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. Tom’s character Ethan was dressed in a suit – not the best outfit when you’re running for your life.

And while the exact content of the scenes remain unclear, there’s no doubt the A-lister will have put some welly into his scenes, so there’s every chance he will have been running for ages in order to get the perfect take.

Fans of Tom Cruise know that he loves to do his own stunts rather than rely on body doubles. One of his most famous stunts came in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015) and saw him quite literally hanging off of the side of a giant cargo plane.

Ethan Hunt was clinging onto the side of a held only by a flying Airbus A400M held only by a harness and cord. Discussing the high-octane stunt, Tom said: “I couldn’t sleep the night before, and then came the day.

“I was like, ‘Okay, that’s really gonna happen.” He added: “If something went wrong, I can’t get into the airplane until we land.”

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh film in the spy franchise, came out last year and saw Ethan and the Impossible Mission Force (IMF) track down a deadly weapon threatening all of humanity. With an estimated budget of $291 million it is one of the most expensive films ever made.

Just weeks ago, Tom and the Mission: Impossible crew were pictured shooting scenes in Derbyshire. Cruise was seen driving a jeep in what appeared to be a stunt scene at Middleton Mine.
