Gogglebox icons unveil shock career news months after quitting and co-star’s death

Gogglebox favourites Stephen Webb and husband Daniel Lustig have shared some big career news with fans.

The Brighton-based couple were regulars on the hit Channel 4 soap for years as well as firm favourites. Stephen made his debut in 2013 followed by Daniel in 2019.

And it’s fair to say the pair kept the nation in hysterics thanks to their relationship, iconic one-liners and hilarious thoughts on the latest bit of telly. But in September last year, they left fans gutted when they confirmed they were quitting.

And it didn’t take long for Stephen to bag a new job. He was quickly confirmed to be taking part in the latest series of Dancing on Ice.

The pair were firm-favourites on the Channel 4 show

However, disaster struck when Stephen sustained a horrific injury. This meant he had to pull out of the competition and was replaced with Eddie the Eagle on the ITV show fronted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern.

But this week, Stephen and Daniel revealed some exciting career news to fans. Taking to their Instagram the pair uploaded a clip of them together.

They told their fans: “Hi everyone, it’s Stephen and Daniel, from Gogglebox! We’re here to make your special occasion that little bit more special.

“Be it a birthday, wedding, an anniversary or even a funeral.” Daniel then chimed in and quipped: “He then said: “We’re here to give you all the juicy voice notes that we can.”

Explaining more in the caption, the pair wrote: “Find us @cameo for a bit of Stephen and Daniel https://www.cameo.com/daniel_stephengogglebox.”

It comes after Stephen was left heartbroken earlier this year after his beloved mum, Pat Webb, passed away. Pat appeared on the show alongside son Stephen Webb for two series between 2017 and 2018. She took over from Chris Butland-Steed, who Stephen was originally cast with during the show’s first series.

Announcing the sad news on Monday (January 29), the official Channel 4 account released a statement saying: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Gogglebox star Mummy Pat Webb passed away this weekend at the age of 75 after a long illness.

Pat was a much-loved cast member on the show from series 10-12 alongside her son Stephen. Mummy Pat will be remembered and missed by her children Stephen, Denise, Sharon, Beverley and the extended family.” It concluded: “Our thoughts are with the family who have requested privacy at this sad time.”
