Alison Hammond has hit back at a troll after they said she was a “nasty piece of work”.
The This Morning star and former Big Brother housemate, 49, had been reading some viewers’ comments as she once again returned to our screens on Sunday (March 24). Hammond had appeared on the celebrity Stand Up to Cancer version of Bake Off, presenting the show alongside regular co-host Noel Fielding.
However, despite her warm and light way of presenting the show, with laughs and smiles galore, some viewers watching the show were less than impressed with her style of hosting. One irate profile took it upon themselves to pen: “I imagine Alison Hammond is a real nasty piece of work now, started to believe her own hype.”

But the Channel 4 presenter was having none of the hatred, deciding to publicly respond to the hater who posted the scathing remark. In typical fashion for Alison, she was able to clap back with grace and decorum, and was inundated with messages of support and love from fans.
Replying publicly to the post, Alison said the accusation was “nasty”, and appealed to the person’s better nature, asking the man who wrote the post to be kind. One day after the post was originally made, Alison said that she was not going to let the comment get her down.
“Why is that I’ll be having a lovely day and then someone who doesn’t know from Adam writes such nasty message,” she penned. “Don’t @ me, keep your nasty comment to yourself, and be kind always.”
Fans were quick to give their love to Alison, with the post garnering a huge response from Hammond’s supporters. Many fans took to the replies to gush over the star and not let the hate get to her.
One user posted: “Don’t think you have a bad bone in your body! Most loveable person ever, keep being you – you absolute Queen.”
A second account added: “Surely they tagged the wrong account because absolutely no one thinks that!!! You just spread joy.”
Whilst a third profile beamed: “I’m so sorry Alison; keep being the amazing and kind person you are. You’re lovely as you are,” followed by two kisses.
This is not the first time Alison has had to deal with trolls hating on her online. After being made a more permanent host on This Morning in 2020, she had 1-1 duty of care meetings with ITV bosses after she was hit with a slew of hate online.
It came just after a wave of issues for ITV at the time after the duty of care was called into question following the death of a guest on the Jeremy Kyle Show. As well as this, accusations of a lack of care following the death of Caroline Flack in 2020 meant that the channel was already in hot water.
The Brummie star herself eventually hit back at the haters herself, adding that she “won’t be bullied” and joking that her “high self-esteem” will keep her out of the way of anything dangerous or harmful.
